Schaerer Medical AG had an exciting year 2009

Swiss producer of mobile operating tables invests in innovations, broadens its range of products, cooperates with leading company and optimises its worldwide service

(Münsingen/Schweiz, December 22, 2009) – Two innovations were launched by Schaerer Medical AG to the market in 2009: The mobile operating table schaerer arcus und the extension system schaerer MIS-System. One of a kind is the universal operating table, which was presented for the first time on Medica 2009. It combines elegant design with heavy weight functionality, working flawlessly up to a patient´s weight of 360 kg, and thus sets new standards.

The excentric column construction allows free access both for surgical and technical demands. The new operating table is the optimal solution in the operating room, ensuring a high flexibility for the surgeon and safety for the patient. With schaerer® arcus, the well-known stability and solidity of Schaerer’s products reaches new dimensions.

The second innovation is the schaerer MIS-System, introduced in June 2009, revolutionising minimal invasive hip surgery. The system was developed in close cooperation with the leading experts in the sector of hip arthroscopy, arthroplasty and traumatology, Dr. Karl Grob and Professor Markus Kuster from the Kantonsspital St. Gallen, Switzerland. It significantly simplfies the work of the surgeon in the field of hip surgery. The system matches maximal and precise control of the movement of the patient´s leg with optimal operability, flexibility and stability. The schaerer MIS-System can also be used in daily routine for hip arthroscopies and traumatology. This flexibility and freedom of movement is absolutely unique in the market.

With these new products the existing Schaerer product offering is logically extended. They fulfill Schaerer Medical´s well-known standards of quality, practicability and easy handling.

Additionally, PMI (pro med instruments), one of the world’s leading companies for cranial stabilisation and retractor systems, has been selected as a cooperation partner. PMI offers its well-established expertise in neurosurgery and responds with its head support systems to the changing demands in clinical application - both in invasive and non-invasive surgery. Schaerer Medical offers the DORO® Systems on a worldwide scale.

With these developments, Schaerer Medical continues its success story in 2009 and thus enhances customer confidence in its capabilities. In addition, Schaerer Medical invests continuously in innovations of existing products, quality management, as well as in expanding and optimising its worldwide customer services. One important step for Schaerer Medical´s quality management is to extend its product warranty to three years.

Schaerer Medical´s appearance on MEDICA 2009 found widespread and international recognition by the professional audience. The presentation of its innovations at the biggest fair for medical technology worldwide – the schaerer MIS-System and the mobile operating table schaerer arcus – generated a high number of leads and product orders.

Thus Schaerer Medical AG takes and defends its position at the global forefront of medical technology – and will continue to do so in the future.
