Orange and Vodafone’s mobile networks rank first in this year’s connect Mobile Network Test Spain, followed by Movistar and Yoigo. The renowned network test was again conducted by the media brand connect and the global infrastructure and independent benchmarking organization umlaut. Using objective and customer-oriented test procedures, once again, extensive efforts were made to rank the network operators in Spain. The results show a positive development: All providers have improved their performance compared to the previous year.
Orange and Vodafone are the top-performing operators in Spain. Both earn the title “Best in Test” and achieve a score of 897 out of 1,000 possible points and the overall grade "very good". The two operators reach perfect Call Reliability in walk test cities. Orange offers the shortest Call Setup Times within cities, while Vodafone provides the best Voice results in the towns and on the roads. Orange shows the best YouTube Performance in the walktests conducted in cities. Vodafone stands out for providing the best Speech Quality and achieves the optimal Reliability score overall.
Movistar follows only two points behind the two winners with an overall score of 895 points and the grade “very good”. The operator excels in Data Services and Crowdsourced Quality as well as demonstrating the highest Data Performance in towns and on roads. Additionally, Movistar leads in the crowdsourced Speed and Latency category.
Yoigo achieves 847 points and the overall grade “good”. The operator increased its score by 34 points compared to the previous year – this is the strongest improvement of all operators analyzed. Yoigo offers strong results particularly in the Data category and leads alongside Orange in showing the highest share of collected samples with 5G, exceeding 85% in cities.

The drive tests and walk tests took place in inner-city areas, outer metropolitan and suburban areas, smaller towns and cities along connecting highways in end of January and early February 2024. Four drive test cars traveled 20 cities and 23 towns covering 11,490 kilometers. The selected areas covered around 12.8 million people, approximately 27% of Spain’s population. The crowd-sourced analyses are based on 5.6 billion samples from 1.3 million users gathered from mid August 2023 to end of January 2024. These represent approximately 99% of Spain’s built-up area and statistically cover 99.8% of Spain’s population. The results of all three tests were thoroughly weighed to achieve a realistic and conclusive assessment of each network’s potential and performance.
connect’s independent mobile network tests, conducted by umlaut, provide a fair, transparent and neutral assessment and comparison of the networks' capabilities to customers, management and supervisory boards of mobile network operators. The assessment was first conducted in Germany more than 20 years ago and has since been extended to Austria, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. It has become the de-facto industry standard for customer-perceived network quality.
